- Salute Royale 002
Dear Editor -
In reference to your article of Tuesday
July 30 - "'Salute' a hit" - we humbly
sumbit the following.
The article flatly stated that "the Bond
Girls never showed up," and that "there
were no attempts at espionage."
Our surveillance of the Salute Royale
002 events of Sonoma's Seventeeth Annual
Salute to the Arts on July 26, 27 and
28, 2002, revealed that Bond Girls were
actually present at the Salute to the
Arts events, and that espionage is
indeed occuring in Sonoma Valley!
Even though it is purported that Agent
002, Bill Fairbanks, was assassinated by
The Man With The Golden Gun in Beirut in
1969, it is possible that he is in fact
alive - his death was never confirmed.
We suspect that he has been operating
under deep cover ever since, and belive
that he was in fact present at the
Salute to the Arts events! Our opinion
at this point is that he has been
situated in Northern California for the
past seventeen years, working especially
in the Sonoma County Wine Appellations,
secretly involved in a mission to foil a
diabolical plot to completely ruin the
grape-growing industry of the entire
world.
Even though details regarding who is
behind this plot must remain
confidential, we thought that at least
this much should be revealed so that
your local grape growers, winemakers,
chefs, restaurants, hotels, food
purveyors, artists, artisans, galleries,
authors, performers, students and
teachers might be on alert and
encouraged. We certainly cannot release
our photos of who we suspect to be Agent
002, but here go out on a limb and share
a few of our shots of the Bond Girls at
Salute so that everyone can be assurred
that efforts are being made to support
the programme against the madman behind
that evil plot.
With hope that the food, wine and arts
culture of your beautiful valley will
thrive in pepertuity we submit this
respectfully, and are sure that you will
understand our need to remain anonymous.
Yours, S
P.S. Our records indicate that sixteen
to twenty local non-profit arts,
cultural and educational organizations
benefit from Salute to the Arts each
year, as well as high school seniors who
receive arts scholarships from the
Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance - - that is
quite commendable! We understand that
figures are not yet available for 2002
contributions and awards, but know that
approximately US$35,000 was distributed
as a result of Salute 2001. Good show!
