AT THE SALUTE CELEBRATION ON FRIDAY
EVENING Celebrating the 20s in Sonoma's
Secret Spaces Friday, July 29 5:30 to
10:30 pm
Gather in Sonoma Plaza for a sparkling
wine reception and unveiling of the
annual Sonoma Salute to the Arts art
competition exhibit, then off to
discover Sonoma's Secret Spaces - each
with its own version of 20s & 30s jazz!
Cut the rug at The Coconut Grove at
Sonoma Court Shops with Big Money In
Jazz, The Grateful Dead of Dixieland,
led by trombonist Mal "Man on the
Street" Sharpe, famed throughout the Bay
Area for his Sharpe Wit, commercials,
KQED specials, and Sunday night KCMS
radio show.
The dynamic Miss Faye Carol will sing
with Big Money in Jazz. The Bay Area's
most versatile and creative female vocal
stylist, “She's a bigger deal than we
are!” notes Sharpe.
At Chez Paree, Chateau Sonoma turned
speakeasy, swing with The Dana Land Jazz
Trio, as you taste, sip, swirl, and
peruse the courtyard furnished with
European antiques.
1920s pianist and singer Leslie Harlib
will serve up superb entertainment at
Tiffany Gardens in the secluded
courtyard behind Zagora and Sonoma
Silver Shop.
Don't miss Banjo-ologist Gordy Ohliger's
popular 1920s & 30s vaudeville and radio
songs at Deco d'Arte at Red Wolf
Gallery.
Conjure up images of the 20s in Palm
Beach at Tropicana at The Mercado with
The Yancie Taylor Jazztet. Yancie's
vibrophone will mix well with savories
and savvy vintages.
Gather at The Coconut Grove at 10 p.m.
