A SALUTE TO ART DECO

Sonoma, CA ~ Sonoma Salute to the Arts, Northern California's ultra-premium showcase of the culinary, winemaking, visual, performing, and literary arts, will celebrate its 20th anniversary the weekend of July 29, 30, and 31, 2005.

The Salute Celebration, A Salute to the 20s in Sonoma's Secret Spaces, will be held on Friday evening, July 29, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The Salute to the Arts showcase event will be held in historic Sonoma Plaza on Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31, with food and wine from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; music and art from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the Sonoma Salute to the Arts Live Auction and Dinner will be held at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa, on Saturday evening, July 30, from 5:00 to 10:30 p.m.

While Sonoma Salute to the Arts annually honors Sonoma County's agricultural and cultural bounty ~ its opening night gala and Saturday evening Live Auction and Dinner are artistically themed with costuming and music each year. "The 20s are a natural fit with the Festival's 20th anniversary," says Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance President Kate Murphy. "We will celebrate this exquisite period when art deco blossomed and artists such as Erte and Maxfield Parrish created their masterpieces; when jazz went mainstream and people danced in road houses, dance halls and speakeasies all over the country.

Salute Celebration - Sonoma's Secret Spaces

On Friday evening don twenties attire, from sleek art deco gowns to speakeasy dress, and gather in historic Sonoma Plaza at 5:30 p.m. for a sparkling wine reception and unveiling of the Festival's juried art competition exhibit and silent auction. (The auction closes at 8:30 p.m. for the evening but will remain open for bidding throughout the weekend festivities, closing at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.)

You'll receive your passport to Sonoma's Secret Spaces ~ a series of gala parties tucked into courtyards surrounding Sonoma Plaza ~ opening at 6:30 p.m. Indulge in sumptuous surprises: tasty hors d'oeuvres, luscious wines, swanky decor, stunning costuming, the sounds of swing ~ and more! Don't forget to get your passport stamped in each Secret Space: A drawing at evening's end will send one special patron on a serendipitous cruise.
