Sonoma Salute to the Arts raises funding for Sonoma Valley non-profit arts and cultural organization

Benefitting OrganizationsAs Sonoma's aesthetic centerpiece and most dynamic fundraising vehicle for the arts, Salute to the Arts generates proceeds
for numerous non-profit arts, cultural, and educational organizations. The Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance, the festival's non-profit
sponsor, contributes net proceeds to participating organizations each year.
Through Sonoma's annual Salute to the Arts, the Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance also funds scholarships for high school seniors
interesting in pursuing careers in the arts. The scholarship fund, established in 1998, provides awards for music, visual
art, theater art, and literary students. In 2002 awards for promising culinary and enology/viticulture students were added.

Established in 1977, the Arts Guild of Sonoma provides local artists with a gallery to exhibit their work, present demonstrations
and lectures to which the community is invited, and support one another in pursuing art careers. The Guild sponsors various
community events for artists of all ages.

Dragon’s Head Productions is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission statement is to raise money for children’s

North Bay Kung Fu’s mission is to train the mind, body, and spirit through application of the philosophies of Confucianism,
Taoism, and Buddhism found in Asian culture, to improve health in all aspects of life. Kung Fu is a way of life, and the
martial arts are for young and old alike. North Bay Kung Fu's participation in Sonoma Salute to the Arts enables the organization
to sponsor advanced students in competitions throughout the Bay Area,
as well as international competitions in China and all over the world.

Sonoma Plein Air Foundation
A non-profit organization, Presents The Fifth Annual Celebration of Outdoor Painting Saturday, September 9, 2006 10am-5pm
on Sonoma's Plaza meet 46 award winning artists from across the country. The Exhibition will feature their original works

Sonoma Charter School
Presents: Exhibition of student works
Sonoma Charter School fundraising is a non-profit organization founded to benefit its students at Sonoma Charter School, a
K-8 public charter school. The school’s fundraising branch helps with on-going support of the music and drama programs. It
also facilitates upkeep and emergency funding.

Sonoma Hometown Band

Schedule
Richard Schneider founded The Sonoma Hometown Band in 1967 as a marching band participating in 4th of July and Vintage Festival
Parades. In 1986 Sonoma Hometown Band started a concert band and now performs four concerts a year. Their repertoire includes
march music written by John Philip Sousa and Charles Fillmore, as well as Karl King’s music for Barnum & Bailey’s Circus.

Founded in 1986, the Sonoma Valley Arts Alliance has sponsored
Sonoma Salute to the Arts since 1988. The organization was established to encourage communication between artists, organizations,
the public, and the press; to promote the arts; and to raise funding for the arts. SVAA has provided art scholarships for
local graduating high school seniors since 1998.

Salute to the Arts funds are used to keep art an ongoing, integral part of the student's
daily curriculum. Funding provided by the state of California is not enough for that.

events at the Community Center. The funds help underwrite the cost of instructors and

Sonoma Valley High School Drama Department
Salute to the Arts earnings were a large part of funding used to produce the original
play, The Wave the first play completely written and produced by teacher
Ron Singer and his students. "It is great for the kids to be involved in
the work of the fundraising."

Sonoma Valley Poetry Festival
Funds from Salute to the Arts were given to California Poets in the Schools. Arthur Dawson
conducted poetry sessions in the elementary schools; Rebecca Talbot conducted sessions at
Altimira; and Luis Kong will be conducting sessions at Hanna Boys Center.
