A Tribute to the Art of Food & Wine in Sonoma’s Secret Spaces


Friday, August 3
6:00 to 10:30 pm

Gather in Sonoma Plaza for a wine reception and unveiling of the annual Sonoma Salute to the Arts Art Competition Exhibit. Pick up your passport to Sonoma’s Secret Spaces and launch your journey around Sonoma Plaza to celebrate the art of food and wine.

Sample sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and wine at each Secret Space where food and wine movies set the stage for this year’s theatrical extravaganza.

Indulge your sweet tooth at Chocolat, also featuring Ceszanne’s Peaches of Paris, at Red Wolf Gallery and Sign of the Bear. Seductive French music by Thibaut and Friends will compliment this luscious French film.

Slip into the deep south at Sunflower Cafe with Fried Green Tomatoes and music by Simka, Sonoma’s ever popular café band.

Take part in the harvest at Crush, presented by Don Sebastiani and Sons, where David Correa and Cascada play from the heart in the Casa Grande Courtyard.

Savor the seductive flavors of Under the Tuscan Sun at the Mercato, with Italian accordion music by Christopher Eising.

Feel the magic where Simply Irresistible lights up Sonoma Court Shops and Casino Royale rocks on the main stage. Sonoma Cheese Burgers and the DeJoy family’s annual smorgasbord of flavors will round out the evening with ample culinary offerings.

Tudo Bem means “everything is fine” in Portuguese. It is also a common greeting in Brazil. The band plays an assortment of Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Funk, Swing, Jazz, Latin, Reggae and even a Polka, for dancing and listening. Tudo Bem features David Aguilar on Guitar, vocals, and percussion, Peter McCauley on bass, vocals, keyboards, and percussion, Patrick O’Connell on drums and percussion. Tudo Bem’s members have played together for more than 18 years.

2:00 Michael Lamacchia’s Organic Jive Collective
Michael LaMacchia has played guitar for most of his life exploring Brazilian, jazz, African, Latin, classical and pop music. Lynn Asher has been performing and recording in the Bay Area for more than ten years. She sang background vocals for the Motion Picture Soundtrack RENT, and has various recording credits with Bay Area artists including sessions with Grammy award winning producer/drummer Narada Michael Walden. LongtimeBay Area vocalist Lisa Kindred is deeplyrooted in blues and jazz. She is currentlyin the studio recording a solo CD.

A powerful blues organ trio - incorporating old friends of Sonoma Salute to the Arts: Tommy Thomsen,Wendy DeWitt, and Jimmy Hobson.Tommy, a native of Sonoma has toured the world with his guitar. Wendy, also know as The Queen of Boogie Woogie Piano, has always played Hammond. Jimmy has recorded with Celine Dion and many other artists. He owns MarinWest Recording and is recognized as a gifted producer. The group has put together a show of straight up blues, with some funk, rock, and international flavors.

3:00 Davis Ross Violin Piano Duo
Local violinist Leta Davis is know for classical performances, as well as performances with her café band, Simka. Leta plays with the Santa Rosa Symphony and is a long time violin teacher. She has performed with her husband David Ross for 15 years. David is an accomplished pianist who studied with Bernard Segal and now teaches piano locally. They play for weddings, parties and chamber music events. Simka’s repertoire ranges from French and Italian Café music, to American swing and Eastern European Klezmer music.
